The Orava Gallery was established on November 3, 1965, as a state-funded organization. One of its priorities, which was set at its founding, was to preserve works of folk art from the Orava region.

Orava Castle

One of the biggest tourist attractions in northern Slovakia is Orava Castle, built on a rock above the Orava River in Oravský Podzámok as an “eagle’s nest.” Construction of the castle began on the site of an old wooden fort after the Tatar invasion in 1241. Over the following centuries, the originally small 13th-century fortress grew into an extensive castle complex, which today has 154 rooms. In the past, it was a county castle and the seat of the Orava castle estate. It owned almost the entire Orava region. The buildings and interior of the castle bear the features of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and modern styles.

Orava Castle consists of a series of buildings following the shape of the castle hill and rock. In 1556, it fell into the hands of the Thurzo family, who carried out its most extensive reconstruction. Orava Castle acquired its present appearance in 1611.

Water World

Water World offers visitors various types of water attractions.

A large multifunctional relaxation pool under the base of the pyramid, 26 meters long and 19 meters wide. The depth of the pool is from 110 to 130 cm. The water temperature is 32 °C.

The relaxation pool and its surroundings include a 32 °C children’s pool, bubble jets, a massage bench for 6 people, 3 massage showers, a water mushroom, 6 massage jets, a wild river, a rocking bay, an island, 2 whirlpools with a water temperature of 36 °C, 4 heated benches, 200 sun loungers, 2 drinking fountains, 2 water slides, a NIAGARA double slide, AquaBar, and barrier-free access.

Restaurants Srdcovka a Orava
