Orava Forest Railway
Located about 6 km from Oravská Lesná, it is one of the few preserved narrow-gauge switchback railways in the world and a unique technical monument. At the departure station, you will also find a children’s playground and an aviary with peacocks – making it an ideal trip for families with children.
Boat trip on the Orava Reservoir

Orava village Museum – Brestová, Zuberec
Located in a beautiful natural setting at the foothills of the Roháče Mountains, this open-air museum features more than 50 examples of traditional folk architecture. The buildings are arranged into several sections representing different parts of the Orava region, including the Lower Orava square, Upper Orava street and Goralské settlements. You will also find technical structures such as a water-powered mill, a traditional mangle for finishing indigo textiles, an oil press, a pottery kiln and more.
Roháče
Roháče, part of the Western Tatras, are known for their majestic peaks and stunning natural scenery. The area is ideal for hiking and offers a variety of trails where you can admire unique flora and fauna. A popular family-friendly route leads around the Roháčske Lakes and to the Roháčsky Waterfall. For nature lovers, a visit to Roháče is an unforgettable experience.
Meander Park Oravice - Aquapark
It is located in the TvrdošĂn district, near the Slovak–Polish border. The thermal water is highly mineralised, rich in sodium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur, with a high iron content. The aquapark is one of the few that uses 100% geothermal water in all of its pools, ensuring the full benefits of its positive effects on the body. Additional services such as saunas, massages and whirlpools offer a complete experience of relaxation and regeneration.
Forester’s Lodge under Babia Hora
This idyllic place beneath the majestic Babia Hora, surrounded by the nature of Orava, is closely connected with the poet Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav and the writer Milo Urban. In the 1880s, Hviezdoslav found inspiration here for his work The Forester’s Wife. At the beginning of the 20th century, Milo Urban was born here. The forester’s lodge in Rovnia hosts literary exhibitions of the Orava Museum, dedicated to Hviezdoslav’s The Forester’s Wife and to Milo Urban, an important representative of modern Slovak literature.
Mária Medvecká Gallery – TvrdošĂn
The permanent exhibition of painter Mária Medvecká presents a selection of her lifelong work, spanning from the second half of the 1940s to the 1980s. It was opened in 1979 on the occasion of her anniversary and features works from the collections of the Orava Gallery. The exhibition includes 180 paintings and 88 drawings, arranged according to artistic and aesthetic criteria rather than chronological order.
